hey all.
sorry.. i need to rant. in sted of taking out on someone, i'm gonna post a board about it. so i don't care what you guys think, because i need to get this out you know?

anyway, yesterday i was using salona capture software to help me sign up to a forum called there's hope. i sent the code, and they returned that they couldn't see it. so i maximised the screen and re sent it. it came back... in short, the operator swore at me, and said that if i sent them anymore codes they would ban me. there we go... i thought the staff at solona were meant to be nice?, or at least patient. maybe i'm missing something.

but i'm never using it again

hurray for web vism

all out now, feel better somewhat.

Really? Wow! I've never had this happen, but they're supposed to give you advice so you can send a solvable captia, not swear at you. I wonder what that was all about? Maybe it was that particular operator.

well, i will never use the software again, just in case. so much for tolerance. sheesh.

Have you contacted them about it? If I were in charge of a service like Solona, and learned that someone did that, I'd want to get rid of that person immediately.

you know what?. actually... you're right. i'm going to do it, just because... well, because i can, and because i'm frustrated.

Yeah, I second that. It's not like you sent them 20 pages. From what you said, you got a bad one and sent them a second one and that's when the confrontation started. These people need to be fired. If they can't deal with the stress of that job then they shouldn't have it.

it's not a job from my understanding, i don't think they're getting paid to do this

Post 8 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Friday, 24-Sep-2010 11:32:28

No. I think you're right. It is volunteer, but if they can't at least be nice to people, they need not be one of the operators. At the very least, they should have said this particular captia just wasn't going to work, for whatever reason.

it is inprofessional to get into a slanging match with someone for sending a capture. i don't see why this person should have got at the original poster for resending a capture. this is terrible treatment imho.

very true, but we only have one side of the story, too. I just like to try to look at things from all angles.

Regardless of whatever angle you look at it , one time of resending a Captcha doesn't excuse swearing at the sender as far as I'm concerned. I was never even interested in Salona knowing as I did that it was human run, particularly not with Web Visum out there. And while Web Visum does occasionally have downtimes it's always been there when I needed it, which admittedly isn't often. And I've only occasionally had problems with it being unable to solve a particular Captcha. I just refresh the Captcha and try again.

I agree with that. I'm just wondering if the whole story is being told. I mean, in for this particular captcha, yes, but I'm wondering if the volunteer was extremely impatient for no good reason, or if over a period of days or weeks, it had been working up to this. If it really was only this experience, I totally agree that resending the captcha should not have invoked such a reaction. Everyone can have a bad day from time to time, but if this person didn't want to do the job, it shouldn't have volunteered for it. Perhaps the volunteer had run in to a super amount of problems that day and just happened to snap. I really don't know.
Dan, did you make sure that immages were enabled in your browser? I take it that they were, since you do know how to use web visum and it works for you.

yep, i ended up using web vism to solve it and i am now a member on that site. but i still want to seek out revenge for web vism

Personally, I like Web Visum the best. I've also used Captchakiller, but WV is easier to use, IMO.

I just don't fel that if you're going to be working in a business that requires interaction with the public, whether online or otherwise, you have the right to swear at anybody even if they're swearing at you. Stooping down to their level isn't going to get anyone anywhere.

Can you tell me when that was? I'd like to have this looked into.
